iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9): Render leaks in 360-degree video

iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9): Render leaks in 360-degree video

We started the year full of technological news during CES 2020, Apple is there, but they are not talking about iPhones. But while CES receives a visit from Apple after 28 years to talk about security and privacy, leaks are pouring on the internet about the brand's next mid-range smartphone.

If the rumors hold true, we'll see not just one launch, but two iPads and a 4,7-inch iPhone as well. Probably aimed at the mid-range segment and could be called iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2.

Although we still don't know the definitive name of this device, renderings and 360-degree video leaked by leaker OnLeaks, brought a glimpse of what the smartphone will look like. And when quoting OnLeaks, we can also say that it doesn't tend to get it wrong, so next you might actually be looking at Apple's next mid-range iPhone.

The new device doesn't look anything like the 11 iPhone 2019 lineup. Instead, it's pretty much the same as the 8-inch iPhone 4,7. The dimensions shared by OnLeaks are approximately 138,5 x 67,4 x 7,8 mm (8,6 mm including the back of the camera).

OnLeaks assumes that the back glass will be the differentiating factor between the iPhone 8 and the new device. So it indicates the presence of frosted glass on the back just like on the iPhone 11 Pro, instead of the glossy glass on the current iPhone 8.

We can still see that the probably 4,7-inch LCD screen doesn't have a notch, since we have thick edges on the top and bottom of the screen, to house the Touch ID and the front camera, going back to the back of the smartphone, we would have a camera only, with advanced features and an A13 Bionic processor.

What the new iPhone will be called remains to be seen, the proposed names iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 seem to somehow make sense,

The suffix "9" is justified by the similarity with the iPhone 8 and not with the iPhone 11, while the "SE 2" also makes sense, in case Apple decides not to go back in its numbered series.

One thing's for sure, the next mid-range iPhone can't have the "12" in the name.
