Lossless HomePods and Spatial Audio in Latest Beta

HomePod and HomePod mini will soon support spatial audio and lossless streaming when using the Apple Music streaming service. The HomePod 15 beta 5 operating system has an option to enable lossless audio and support for playing content with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio.

According to 9to5Mac, not all beta program users will see the activation key for lossless streaming. If you have iOS 15 on your iPhone and you have the latest beta version installed on your HomePod, try to check by going to: Home app > Profile > Media > Apple Music.

Earlier this year, Apple even said it would add Apple Music lossless streaming support to the HomePod and HomePod mini, but the company did not give any predictions on when it would do so. Now, smart speakers will soon be able to stream tracks in a lossless audio format.

    Launch and availability

Believe that HomePod and HomePod mini will gain the ability to transmit lossless audio and spatial audio, in the stable version of the OS, in the next 2 months.

What is lossless audio like on Apple Music?

According to the post on its website, Apple says that its entire music catalog (75 million tracks) will be streamed in lossless audio format. The audio codec used will be ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), a proprietary format created by Apple that is equivalent to FLAC. According to the company, not only audio is offered in CD quality (16bit/44,1Khz), but also in 24bit/48Khz, up to 24bit/192Khz.
