Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite does not have an OLED screen, but the IPS LCD screen present on the device is just as competent, this model does not support DEX mode, so if this is a problem for you, you can stop here. But if you can forgo the feature mentioned above, you will surely be surprised by what you see next.

Although there are losses in hardware and software, when compared to the Galaxy Tab S6, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite supports the new S-Pen that comes with the tablet, in addition, the basic kit still has a Folio-type Case for protection. , which allows you to position the tablet in several different positions and, most importantly, it costs practically half the price that Samsung charges for the Tab S6.

    Galaxy tab s6 lite

    8.0 Pros

    • Case Folio protects the Tablet and S-Pen, also allows you to place the tablet in different positions
    • Metal construction gives solidity to the tablet which is very thin
    • AKG stereo speakers
    • Long battery life
    Cons
    • Screen does not deliver the same sharpness as an OLED screen, this can be seen in outdoor use
    • Intermediate Exynos processor (same present in Galaxy A51)

    • No official keyboard accessory
    • Facial recognition in low light
Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is Samsung's new tablet

Currently, if we look for tablets in the big stores in the Spanish market, we will find few options, there are low-cost models, run these, even for children, after all, children today are playing Fortnite, so there is a demand for more powerful models.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

The S-Pen present in the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has 4.096 levels of pressure sensitivity and magnetized clamping mechanism.

These models exist, Samsung and Apple practically dominate this market segment, with powerful tablets and diversified models. However what I can say here is that today, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is the best value for money option you will find with the S-Pen and folio-style case in its base kit. The market seems to be forgetting about tablets that end up being marketed to very specific niches.

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and its niche market

In these market niches, content creators, designers, architects and entrepreneurs who are looking for a large screen for quick access to information that can be shared between open applications side by side, and also students who seek the convenience of taking it on a single device , books and notebooks without having to carry a ton of material in your backpack.

I would definitely say that today, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a versatile tablet but don't want to spend a lot. After all, it came to compete with the 1th generation iPad, and it was launched almost 6 year after the Galaxy Tab SXNUMX, its older brother and, also, much more expensive.

The current price and the items included in the box will likely make the Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite the right choice for you, after all we have a tablet priced under R$2.350,00 and it can do almost everything the Galaxy Tab S6 does and wouldn't. make sense, for example, to buy the Galaxy Tab S5e, which does not have an S-Pen, despite having an AMOLED screen and a Snapdragon processor. And to make the decision to go for an iPad, the stylus must be purchased separately and it's not cheap, any more than the iPad is.

    Design and construction

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is built in aluminum and glass, weighs just 467 grams, despite its 10,4" screen and its dimensions of 244,5 x 154,3 x 7mm. Honestly the "Lite" of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite it's in the price and in the absence of DEX mode, because at no time did the screen, being IPS LCD, bother me and the presence of the folio case and the included S-Pen complete the set.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

Aluminum and glass construction, lightweight, very good display, AKG stereo sound and an impeccable finish.

The design is exquisite, the premium aspect of the tablet is undeniable, add this to the case that houses the Tablet and S-Pen and you will parade style wherever you go. Design here is not only applied to form, but also to function, with the case making it possible to place the tablet at different angles for work, study or leisure.

Horizontally, AKG's signature speakers supporting Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound for immersive audio have been positioned at the top, on both sides, delivering stereo sound without the possibility of obstruction due to its position.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

Stereo speakers position are at the top on both sides with the tablet horizontally.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite does not have fingerprint unlock, neither on the screen nor on the side, it is possible to unlock the tablet through PIN, pattern, password or facial recognition for unlocking without password.

    S-Pen

The S-Pen that comes with the Tab S6 Lite has 4.096 levels of pressure sensitivity and magnetized attachment mechanism, so the S-Pen can be attached to the folio case and also to the side of the tablet when it is not in the case.

The S-Pen can interact with the screen when the tip is within an inch of it. In between, you can press the button on the S-Pen to select numerous options for interacting with the screen, taking notes, doodling on the screen or capturing parts of the screen as an image, among other things.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

The S-Pen is very versatile and writing with it is very natural.

You can use the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite's S-Pen to navigate the interface, write by hand instead of typing, and also draw. The tablet has apps for note taking, PDF reading with the possibility of editing and, in addition, it has excellent apps such as Autodesk SketchBook and ArtFlow available on the Google Play Store.

The drawing experience with these apps is very good, however this is not my specialty, what I can say is that the pen is accurate and practically no delays in tactile response, making writing natural, which for me is the main thing.

Using the S-Pen that comes with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is natural, even better than writing with a real pen in a notebook, after all you press harder and the line drawn by the pen comes out thicker or darker, you apply less pressure, the lines come out thinner and clearer, plus there is support for palm rejection, that is, you can rest your palm on the screen while writing on the screen without it disturbing the final result of your handwriting or design. In the drawing pad for example, the pressure sensitivity is as advanced as the S-Pen present in the Galaxy Tab S6.

It is possible to edit PDFs with layers so that the original is not lost.

Samsung claims that latency has been reduced. My experience with the S-Pen comes from its use with the Galaxy Note 20, as much as I'm used to it, the experience with the S-Pen that arrives on the Tablet that is bigger, makes the footprint more similar to the of a real pen or pencil making use more comfortable and natural.

There is one however, there is no slot or slot on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite to store the S-Pen, but as I mentioned it attaches to the side of the tablet or its folio case with the help of a magnet.

Some say that the new S-Pen leaves something to be desired when compared to the Apple Pencil, however I advance that I did not have access to the Apple Pencil and an iPad to test both side by side, but I am already a little scared to see that only the Apple Pencil costs half the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. What can one say about it?

Using the S-Pen at no time caused me discomfort or the moves I made were not readily attended to, I honestly don't think it's worth looking at the iPad with the Apple Pencil unless you already have the entire Apple ecosystem and money to spare. in your bank account.

    Fabric

The Galaxy Tab S10,4 Lite's 6-inch IPS LCD screen has a WUXGA+ resolution (2000x1200 pixels) and, as much as they say, I keep saying that the IPS LCD screen didn't have any problems with sharpness or brightness, on the contrary, it positively surprised me by delivering colors that are more faithful to reality, different from the colors presented in AMOLED screens, which have the characteristic of saturating the colors more.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

The screen of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is IPS LCD but it does not disappoint.

The Tab S6 Lite's resolution isn't as high as the Tab S6's, but that's another thing that doesn't bother you. There is even a detail about the screen of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, Samsung uses a laminated screen, in which the layers of the screen are fused together, this makes the screen image appear closer to the surface.

The Tab S6 Lite is certified for Netflix HD streaming, although it does not support HDR (high dynamic range). So if you try to watch an HDR YouTube video, you will only see the standard dynamic range (SDR) version. The display controls are also limited, you can't change for example the color vibrancy of the screen.

    Inventory

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a Samsung Exynos 9611 processor, 4GB of RAM (DDR4X) and versions with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, it arrives with Android 10 and OneUI 2.1, but the model we received already has OneUI 2.5 and the update of November 2020 security.

Even with the latest OneUI update, the tablet is still without screen color control and unfortunately Samsung has removed the DeX mode from the tablet, present in the Tab S6, I just don't know if it's worth paying almost double to have DeX mode, besides Strangely, Samsung doesn't have an official keyboard for the Tab S6 Lite, but this is easily resolved with a third-party wireless keyboard.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

Folio-style case ensures protection as well as versatility.

The OneUI is the same as on Samsung's 2019 and 2020 smartphones, so if you use a smartphone from the brand, you won't see any difference in using the tablet on a daily basis. You have your home screen and paginated app drawer, plus the Samsung Daily.

During use, I didn't notice any stuttering, but the games take a longer time to load and it doesn't allow the choice of maximum settings. However, you may not realize this, I noticed because I use a smartphone with Snapdragon 855 and like the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, it uses an Exynos 9611 processor, also present in the Galaxy A51, which is very similar to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 730G, feeling that is normal coming from a more powerful device.

You will probably find only the 64GB version on the Spanish market, I searched a lot for the 128GB model but I couldn't find it. The 64GB might not seem like a lot when many smartphones come with 128GB, but you're much less likely to cram your tablet with photos and videos for example.

    Games

Still about performance, I played PUBG Mobile, CoD Mobile, Asphalt 9 and Free Fire, as I mentioned, I didn't notice any delays during the games, but it's good not to abuse it, we don't have a high-end processor, so configuring the games with maximum quality is not is recommended. However, I have to point out that, within games, when a lot of action appears on the screen, I noticed drops in the frame rate.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

Games run the same way they run on the Galaxy A51, after all, the tablet has the same processor present in the smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite also has good speakers, signed by AKG, owned by Samsung, with support for Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound, they deliver stereo sound, they are on the top of the tablet one on each side, when it is horizontally, thus preventing the outlets from being obstructed. The sound is rich enough to deliver a great multimedia experience.

    battery life

The battery present in the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has 7.040mAh, with charging via USB-C cable, the battery is giant, playing Aspahlt 9 for 35 minutes consumed only eight percent of the battery, suggesting that we can play the racing game for up to seven o'clock.

For video playback, three hours of YouTube consumed 30% of the battery, so with a full charge we can consume video content for up to 10 hours.

Samsung says the battery should last for 13 hours, which seems perfectly plausible if you play a video stored on the tablet itself, rather than streaming, and turn the brightness down a bit. Still, that's probably not how most people actually play videos on this tablet.

    Cameras

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has an 8-megapixel, f/1.9 rear camera and a 5-megapixel, f/2.2 front camera, the tablet records videos at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. Its rear camera uses the same ultra-wide-angle sensor as the Galaxy A90 5G. If it were the main camera on a smartphone it would definitely be regular, but on a tablet like the Galaxy S6 Lite it is acceptable.

In good light conditions the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will take good pictures when there is not much variation in light in the scene. But just a cloudy sky or a darker scene that the quality of the captures drops a lot.

Whatever dynamic range improvements the tablet's processing uses are not enough to compensate for the regular sensor. This may improve with software updates, but don't expect miracles.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the best value for money in the premium segment

The cameras present in the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite are regular.

The front camera is used for face unlock, I started using it and then removed it, in well-lit environments the unlock works properly, but in adverse light conditions the unlock is not effective. Use PIN, Pattern or strong password to unlock your tablet keeping your data safe.

For selfies, the 5 megapixel camera could be better, but the same thing happens here as the rear camera, only in very good light conditions you will get satisfactory results. But let's get to the question, who uses a tablet to take pictures and record videos? What I can say is that at least the quality of the cameras is superior to the webcams present in most notebooks I've tested.

Unfortunately Samsung hasn't invested much in the camera department, the camera sensors used here are the same as those on the cheaper Galaxy Tab A 10.1. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e has better cameras. So we have a tradeoff, do you want the S-Pen and all its features or a good camera suite? You don't even have to answer, S-Pen wins here easily, I want to take good pictures, I use my smartphone, not my tablet.

    Conclusion

    Galaxy tab s6 lite

    8.0 Pros
    • S-Pen is included in the basic kit
    • Case Folio protects the Tablet and S-Pen, also allows you to place the tablet in different positions
    • Metal construction gives solidity to the tablet which is very thin
    • AKG stereo speakers
    • Long battery life
    Cons
    • Screen does not deliver the same sharpness as an OLED screen, this can be seen in outdoor use
    • Intermediate Exynos processor (same present in Galaxy A51)
    • Does not support Samsung DeX
    • No official keyboard accessory
    • Facial recognition in low light

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is the right choice for you looking for a tablet that will meet virtually all your everyday needs, not with maximum performance, but with an intermediate performance that allows you to use it without lags or crashes.

The S-Pen is a great extra, the tablet's thickness is incredibly thin and even with a huge battery the tablet is light. The processing and memory deliver enough performance to play any game you want, with only occasional graphics sacrifices. We lost the sharpest OLED screen, but gained support for the S-Pen, the folio-like case that guarantees full protection not only for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, but also for the S-Pen.

In the Spanish market we still find the Galaxy Tab S5e, this is where you have to decide, the Galaxy Tab S5e is older but has a sharper and more vibrant OLED screen, its cameras are better and you can prefer Qualcomm processors, which is what it brings, in addition the sound system is slightly better when we compare its specs. So you must ask yourself, do you prefer the versatility of the S-Pen in a more current Tablet, or do you prefer a more colorful screen and better cameras?

    Price and availability

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has been on the market for some time now and its price range currently makes it the only valid choice if you want to have the features of the S-Pen and the protection of the Case Folio already in the base kit.

You can buy the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for about R$2.350,00, and you can find prices lower than that in offers. As Black Friday is coming, I think it's worth including the model in the list if you're looking for a Tablet.
