    Samsung launches biometric security chip for cards

    Samsung has announced an all-in-one digital security chip for payment cards. According to the company, it is the "first" to achieve this feat and promises to make the process of using biometric payment cards easier for banks and other companies.

    Although the S3B512C chip, developed by Samsung, was primarily made for payment cards, it can also be used for "student or employee identification, membership or building access." In addition, it is important to know that this solution works in accordance with the latest Mastercard security specifications for payment cards and complies with international security standards (CC EAL 6+), protecting high-value assets from significant risks. , according to Samsung.

    In 2021, Samsung even announced that it had partnered with Mastercard for a biometric-scanning payment card with a built-in digital reader. At the time, the company said it would "adopt a new security chipset from Samsung's LSI business" rather than using Mastercard's technology.

    No need to use PIN code

    As with cards with contactless technology, the chip developed by Samsung does not require the user to enter a PIN code when making the payment. In addition, the chip uses anti-spoofing technology to block fraudulent methods such as artificial fingerprints.
