YouTube Music for Wear OS will stream music to Galaxy Watch 4

YouTube Music for Wear OS will stream music to Galaxy Watch 4

The update of Wear OS, operating system for smartwatches developed by Google, brought more apps and updates that are somewhat delayed compared to what you have in others. A few months ago YouTube Music was one of the new apps to debut on Wear OS smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 4. Now it's been announced that Google's music streaming platform will gain the ability to stream tracks on Wear OS.

YouTube Music for Wear OS arrives to replace Google Play Music that was launched on the platform when the operating system was still called "Android Wear". Fortunately YouTube Music still has one of the best experiences in playing music through Wear OS.

There's still a big problem playing music on YouTube Music for Wear OS

While the music playback experience with YouTube Music is interesting on Wear OS, it is not able to play the tracks without first downloading them to the smartwatch. That is, the app only plays songs offline instead of actually streaming the audio files when the user wants to. Samsung even confirmed that the Galaxu Watch 4 will be able to stream music in a "future update". South Korean company says:

"Coming soon, through an additional update, users will be able to stream music over Wi-Fi or LTE from the YouTube Music app on their Galaxy Watch4. This means users can leave their phone behind and still enjoy their favorite artists while exercise on the move."

    Launch and availability

So far, the only confirmation we have about music playback on YouTube Music is from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch. Unfortunately, it's not yet known when other Wear OS smartwatches will get the same functionality.
