To combat rumors, Facebook starts testing context display in posts

On social media, sharing rumors and fake news continues to be a major problem for companies. On Facebook it is still possible to find a lot of information that is not true, and even so, users insist on sharing. To resolve the situation, this Thursday (5th), Mark Zuckerberg's social network announced a new strategy to combat the spread of untrue information within the platform.

The novelty in question is a button that accompanies posts of articles on the social network and that displays a little more context about that subject or even about the page that is sharing the content. The test, for now, is restricted to only a few users in the United States.

"This new feature is designed to give people some of the tools they need to make an informed decision about which stories they read, share and trust," Facebook said in its announcement.

If there is no information available, the card that contains the context will alert you to the lack of information about the page or subject, which may also indicate that the source is not so reliable.

This is yet another attempt to stop fake posts. However, users also need to be aware before sharing certain information. In case of doubt about the veracity of the information, it is recommended to do an internet search on the subject.
