Instagram announced this morning (15) the arrival of a new feature on the platform, perhaps one of the most awaited and questionable on the social network. According to the company, some users are receiving the feature on their respective profiles to enable the visualization of the number of likes on their posts.
This function was already present on the social network natively, but it was withdrawn in 2019 with the aim of encouraging users not to be too worried about the popularity of their posts. Although it was possible to see who liked your photo, the total number of likes was hidden. Now, the feature returns to the platform, but with a difference.
Since the removal of the role, many users questioned the attitude of the social network and did not understand that this was really a relevant concern. To meet the demand requested by these specific users, the function will be available in a personalized way, that is, each user will be able to decide for themselves whether their posts will display the number of likes or not.

Instagram will show the number of likes again
Apparently, the role can be configured both for your own profile and for those you follow and view. Instagram reports that it began considering this change after several users submitted feedback to the company. But due to the pandemic, their efforts were focused on other things, leaving this test in the background.
As far as we know so far, the feature will be available, for now, only to some users worldwide. If the test shows positive results, more users will be contemplated afterwards. Also, Facebook seems to want to adopt this functionality on its platform, but so far, no information has been revealed.
