Instagram tests posting photos from PC

Instagram has started testing new functionality for its web platform (browsers like Chrome, Edge, Firefox) on desktop. Some users are able to post photos directly from their PC to Instagram feed. The information came through the Engadget website, where it is said that it is the first time that the social network allows posting photos outside the mobile app (for cell phones and tablets).

An Instagram spokesperson confirmed about testing the new functionality for the Engadget website saying:

"We know that many people access Instagram from their computers. To improve this experience, we are now testing the ability to create an Instagram feed post with the desktop browser."

The possibility of posting a photo from the desktop or notebook had been reported for the first time by leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, where, through reverse engineering, the information was obtained. At the time, Alessandro said it looked like just an internal test, but from the looks of it, now the functionality will likely be officially implemented soon.

At first, there doesn't seem to be a significant difference in the interface for posting photos on Instagram from the desktop web platform. According to Engadget, it is still possible to upload multiple photos at the same time, edit them and apply filters.

    Launch and availability

It is not yet known exactly when the function of posting photos from the computer will be made available to everyone, but this is a sign that Instagram is becoming a platform similar to Facebook, where all the functionality is available, regardless of the platform.
