Facebook increasingly imports functionality from apps belonging to the social media conglomerate, such as Instagram and WhatsApp. This time, the new feature is the synchronization of Facebook images with Google Photos, in online storage. That is, anything posted on the social network is automatically saved to your Google account, just like WhatsApp in its Android version, for example.
This synchronization makes it easy to access the images without having to access the social network and download the files manually. In addition, it brings a backup that Facebook did not have until then for the files posted on the network, so even if the account is lost, whether personal or pages, your images and videos will still be available in the cloud through Google storage. On WhatsApp, the advantage came particularly to those who change Android smartphones more frequently, and on Facebook it should be advantageous for those who are prone to deleting their account or having it banned (which is happening more and more frequently with the intensification of social network community policies).
"For nearly a decade, we've allowed people to download their information from Facebook. The photo transfer tool that we're starting to roll out today is based on code developed through our participation in the open source data transfer project," he explains. The social network also reported that next year will bring more and more news and updates to Facebook, without specifying what they would be. But the new Google Photos sync now arrives in Ireland, and will begin expanding around the globe during the first quarter of 2020.
