New Instagram feature lets users post stories to just a few friends

With social networks, sharing photos has become routine and several clicked moments end up on the network. However, it's not all photos that we like most friends on a social network to see. In some cases, only the closest friends are chosen. To facilitate this, Instagram thought of a new sharing mode.

This Friday (30), Instagram unveiled a feature that allows users to share stories with only a selected group of friends. The new feature, called "Close Friends" or "Close Friends", will appear on the user's profile in the side menu.

Instagram's new feature allows users to post stories to just a few friends.

"As you add more and more people [on any social media] you start not knowing them. It will obviously change the things you are sharing and make it even harder to form any deep connections with your closest friends. because you basically curate for the widest possible distribution," said Instagram product director Robby Stein. "To really be yourself and connect and be connected to your best friends, you need your own place."

With this, users will be able to make smaller groups of friends and share their stories exclusively with these groups.

"If you're on someone's close friends list, you'll see a green ring around the person's photo in their stories section and a green badge when you're viewing their stories," Instagram said.

Currently, Instagram has more than 1 billion users and Facebook, which owns the platform, has focused a lot on the service in recent times.

Instagram in October of this year appointed Adam Mosseri, who previously held positions at the company, as director of the photo-sharing app, following the departure of co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Frieger.
