With the arrival of Windows 11, the Microsoft Store has made great strides in terms of app availability. A recent example of this was the company's announcement that users can now download and install Visual Studio Code apps and Visual Studio Community from the Microsoft Store on Windows 11.

— Scott Hanselman (@shanselman) August 25, 2021What is making the biggest difference in making apps available in the Microsoft Store in Windows 11 is allowing any user to be able to place an app in the app store. It took Microsoft nearly a decade to get to that point. The reason for this was that when the app store for Windows appeared, Microsoft believed that its apps would be popular and everyone would use them. However, that's not what happened and it was because of this same thought that Windows Phone, the operating system for cell phones, died.
Microsoft even tried to launch a "Universal Windows Platform" (UWP or Universal Windows Platform) on Windows 10, for building apps on the Microsoft Store. However, this was not enough for developers to create good apps. Fortunately, this is finally starting to change with Windows 11 and we hope that users will now have access to good apps in the Microsoft Store.
