    What's in the Windows 2021 December 5008212 Update (KB10)?

We arrived at Last mandatory update of the year for Windows 10 in versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2. The patch is now available through Windows Update and WSUS. If you haven't already installed the optional update KB5007253, released in late November, the December 2021 update (KB5008212) will only bring security-related improvements.

Update KB5008212 brings security improvements and bug fixes if the KB5007253 patch has not yet been installed. The reason for this is that a "cumulative" update loads fixes from previous months in a single package. The way Windows updates allows a single monthly update to be enough for all the missing updates.

If you have updated Windows 10 version 21H2 (available in the November 2021 update), you will get Build 19044.1415. If you have version 21H1 (debuted in May 2021), you will receive Build 19043.1415 with the same set of fixes and improvements. Regarding Windows 10 version 20H2, we will have Build 19042.1415.

Although Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 version 2004, this will be the last patch it will receive. You can find more details in our story about ending support for this version of Windows.

When you look for updates on Windows Update, you will see the following description on the screen:

"2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Operating Systems (KB5008212)"
