    What's in the Windows 2021 September 5005565 Update (KB10)?

    Microsoft has recently started releasing the ninth cumulative update of the year for Windows 10 in versions 21H1, 20H2, and 2004. The September 2021 Update (KB5005565) for Windows 10 is being shipped through Windows Update, WSUS, and the MS Catalog. This month's Patch Tuesday arrives with fixes related to Bluetooth, audio, security, and general improvements.

    Update KB5005565 is mandatory and fixes a security bug identified as MSHTML (CVE-2021-40444). The September Tuestay Patch, as mentioned above, also brings security improvements, Bluetooth fixes and audio fixes.



    If your Windows 10 version is 21H1, you will get Build 19043.1237. In Windows 20 version 2H10, the operating system (OS) will advance to Build 19042.1237. Windows 2004 version 10 users will also receive this update and the OS build number will be different from other versions.

    When checking for operating system updates through Windows Update, the following description will appear:

    “2021-09 Windows 10 Version 21H1 Cumulative Update for x64-based Systems (KB5005565)”

    Observation: It is interesting to note that for the update to occur normally (download and installation), the user is advised to disconnect any device that uses Bluetooth, including wireless mouse, keyboard and headphones.

    How to download the update now

    To get the performance improvements provided by the new Windows 10 update, follow these steps:


    Step 01: Click on the Windows flag in the lower left corner to open the start menu.


    Step 02: Select the gear symbol in the left corner under the column.

    Step 03: Scroll down and select "update and security".

    Step 04: Select "check for updates".

    Step 05: Select "Download and Install" under updates.

    You can download KB5005565 update for Windows 10 (64-bit and 32-bit x86) manually here. When accessing the Microsoft Update catalog, you must select the "download" button next to the version of Windows 10 you want to download. Then, simply right-click on the link and select "save as" to start the download.

    The main new features of the KB5005565 update for Windows 10 version 21H1/20H2/2004 are:

    • Bluetooth issues have been fixed.
    • Fixed Windows Update page issues.
    • Addresses a bug that may prevent users from minimizing application windows.

    Several issues have been fixed through the update released today. One of the fixes made, for example, was related to a bug that prevented Bluetooth headphones from working. Another bug fixed by Microsoft was the blocking of headphones, where if the user tried to connect USB audio devices and used third-party drivers, it would not work properly.

    Another bug fixed by Microsoft in the Windows 10 September Update was the one that caused resized images to degrade, generating artifacts (lines). Another bug, which has been fixed, prevented users from typing in the username box on the Windows 10 setup screen. This error occurred on computers with the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME).


    Build 19043.1237 also implemented a fix for an issue that caused the computer to crash when using a gesture using the touch screen. Also, for users using external monitors, Microsoft says it has resolved an issue that caused black screens for some (it occurred when activating sleep mode).


    The new patch made available for Windows 10 also resolved issues related to streaming standard dynamic range (SDR) content on monitors that have high dynamic range (HDR or high-dynamic-range).


    Issues identified in the update

    In this released update, Microsoft reports that it is aware of an issue that may cause Windows Update crashes. The bug was detected after installing update KB5003690 (June 2021) where the error code identified is:


    “PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING”
