Update KB5005101 has recently started to be made available by Microsoft for users of Windows 10 version 21H1, 20H2 and 2004. This patch coming to Windows Update is optional and is part of the Windows 2021 August 10 update cycle, i.e. you can wait for the September Patch Tuesday, which will include these same fixes, or apply the update now available from Microsoft in case a critical issue is affecting your computer.

    Optional update KB5005101

As it is an optional update, this update that arrives for Windows 10 version 21H1, 20H2 and 2004 will not be automatically installed by Windows Update. For this patch to be applied, a user command will be required (the step-by-step instructions for carrying out the procedure will be provided below).

In this optional patch we have fixes in the Bluetooth profile called "Advanced Audio Distribution Profile" (A2DP), responsible for transmitting audio from one Bluetooth device to another (to learn more about Bluetooth headphones, access our article here). The issue I was experiencing was preventing Bluetooth headphones from connecting.
