Windows 10 reaches 1,3 billion monthly active users

Microsoft announced yesterday (27) that its operating system (OS) Windows 10 currently has 1,3 billion active users. The information was said by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during a fiscal year 2021 third quarter earnings call.

Previously, there was an expectation, on the part of Microsoft, that the mark of 1 billion devices with Windows 10 would be reached in the year 2018. However, this number was only reached two years later. In March 2020 it was announced that Windows 10 has reached 1 billion devices.

In March 2019 Windows 10 reached 800 million users and in 2017 it had 600 million. As you may have noticed, the advancement of Microsoft's operating system has been slow, but it seems that the OS is growing at a faster rate than before.

    The Year of Windows

If you follow Microsoft's movements more closely, you must have noticed that the company has shifted its focus to other products (Azure and Office) and it turns out that Windows development has slowed down. The latest OS updates were aimed more at businesses than the average consumer. However, the company has confirmed that it plans to revamp Windows and turn it into software that its customers will love.

Microsoft is currently working on a new version of Windows 10, "Sun Valley". This OS update is expected to be released between October and November 2021. Windows 10 Sun Valley windows are expected to have rounded corners, a new dark mode experience, improved File Explorer, floating menus and a new menu Start.
