Windows 10 reaches 800 million devices

Windows 10 has reached the mark of 800 million devices installed, revealed the corporate vice president of Microsoft, Yusuf Mehdi. To commemorate the fact, and executive made a post on Twitter.

Microsoft, it seems, is not going according to its schedule, but it should reach the plan. Just before completing one year since the launch of Windows 10, which took place in 2014, the company's vice president of software, Terry Myerson, revealed that 1 billion devices would run the OS in up to three years.

In 2016, Mehdi said that the company would take longer to reach the stipulated target. Last year in September, Windows 10 overtook Windows 7 in installed devices, with 700 million machines running the operating system. In the same year, in October, the company said that there were 1,5 billion devices running Windows.

It is worth mentioning that the operating system contributed almost 15% of Microsoft's revenue. He is also a "notable contributor to operating income," as former CEO Steve Ballmer said last year.

Soon, the company is expected to release the first of the two major annual updates for Windows 10, called 19H1. Additions should have a light theme that affects the desktop wallpaper and other elements as well.
