5G network will guarantee immense battery life, says Verizon CEO

Currently, smartphones do not usually have a great battery life, especially compared to old cell phones. But, as we well know, the dream of many users is a device that can be unplugged for several days.

The good news is that some people believe in this possibility, as is the case with the CEO of Verizon.

Lowell McAdam, in a debate during a technology conference, said that future 5G-capable devices, even if they receive a much greater speed gain than the current 4G LTE, will not have such an exaggerated battery drain. This is all because of the low latency and the possibility of dealing with crowded tower connections.

Regarding IoT devices, the executive says he believes they will be able to withstand a single charge for a period of 10 years. Smartphones will be able to stay on the same battery charge for up to four weeks.

Verizon intends to offer the 5G network by the end of the year. The company has invested about $18 billion in long-term capital expenditures, all to deliver features like augmented reality and connected cars.
