On world EMOJI day: Ford presents the PICKUP emoji

For those who don't know, today is world EMOJI day, here at Techlifers we have a list of emojis and how to use them on the keyboard. Well, until then the car emojis that existed, didn't show any pickup. The idea came from FORD in partnership with the Unicode Consortium - which is the organization that analyzes and approves the introduction of new emojis - for the creation of PICAPE.

Starting in 2020 you will be able to use the emoji below in your conversations.

"When customers started asking for a truck emoji, we knew we needed to help make it happen," says Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford's automotive business. "With the global popularity of our pickup trucks, there is no one better than Ford to help bring this new emoji to the world."

Since 2018, when Ford presented the proposal for the Unicode Consortium, the manufacturer has been waiting. Now he has been chosen as a finalist in the update program entering early 2020.

The truck emoji was created based on current style trends. "Our team spent a lot of time researching groups, messaging with influencers and analyzing social media to understand customer needs," says Craig Metros, Ford's director of design in North America. "People want an emoji that is fresh, stylish, that conveys their ideas and the meaning of a truck. The result is a modern, smiling icon that should delight fans."

If the truck emoji is approved early next year, its design must be customized to meet the needs of customers across all mobile platforms. And the millions of pickup truck fans around the world will have one more resource to express their passion for these vehicles.
