Most likely you have already heard the song by Luis Fonsi in partnership with Daddy Yankee, Despacito. The hit is a worldwide hit, loved by many and hated by others. The song, due to its success, became the most streamed song of all time.
"Luis Fonsi already had the biggest and most important song of the year, and now he's breaking even bigger records", analyzes Lucian Grainge, CEO of Universal Music Group, responsible for distributing both editions of the song worldwide.
Luis Fonsi, in turn, says he is honored to be part of this historic brand. "[Streaming] helped get my music to every corner of the planet," explains the singer.
Jesús Lopez, head of UMG's Latin and Iberian division, said the achievement shows that online broadcasting has managed to democratize music consumption and still make Latin rhythms relevant once again.
