    Public bodies will have to offer free Wi-Fi

      Public bodies will soon have to offer wireless internet in offices. The Bill 2012/11, which was presented by Deputy João Arruda (PMDB-PR). It has already been approved by the Labor, Administration and Public Service Commission.

      The measure in question covers public bodies of all spheres, that is, federal, state and municipal. The PL ended up undergoing some amendments, presented by Deputy Daniel Almeida (PCdoB-BA).

      To top it off, the password for the Wi-Fi network of public offices needs to be fixed in a visible place. The network will have limitation of external users, still obeying the opening hours of the agency. It can only be used by those who are inside the office and during opening hours. The substitute for PL 2021/11 exempts banks from the obligation.

      "Due to the nature of the business and the risks to security, public banks need to impose strict control over their data transmission network. Therefore, the creation of mechanisms for public access to the internet", explained Daniel Almeida.

      The mandatory application of a filter to prevent access to sites that contain inappropriate and adult content was also excluded from the original text. As a justification, citizens will be using their own devices, so it is not up to anyone to decide what is accessed or not.


      The bill will be processed in a conclusive character for analysis and opinion of Science and Technology, Communication and Informatics; of Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
