After hours of instability, Facebook explains the reason for the problem

On Wednesday (13), many users around the world faced problems on Mark Zuckerberg's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The problem started around 12 pm and left some users without access to the services or unable to perform some actions, such as posting images, comments, voice messages, among others.

After almost 24 hours of instability, everything returned to normal. Yesterday afternoon, some rumors circulated through social media justifying the problems to the attack on the school in Suzano, SP, in which two gunmen killed several victims. The content explained that social networks were inaccessible due to the high dissemination of videos and photos of the attack. However, one episode was not linked to the other.

After the turmoil, Facebook attributed the downtime of its services to a "change in server configuration". "We have now resolved the issues and our systems are recovering. We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience," the company said via Twitter.

In addition to the problems directly on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, owners of Oculus VR headsets were also affected. Users who often access Tinder or Spotify through Facebook credentials were also unable to log in.

With the problems on Facebook, many users turned to Twitter. Furthermore, Telegram also gained thousands of users in one day.

In Spain, after the sad episode involving the students of a school in Suzano, SP, the fact that Facebook was not working normally was not the most important thing. Even so, we can see the great influence that Mark Zuckerberg's platforms have on our lives, and how the lack of continuous communication can affect us.
