Epic Games Store starts implementing community-created mods tool

In 2019 Epic Games presented its detailed plans for features that the company was working to implement soon on its platform. One of the new features was the mod support, which is now available in its beta version.

This Thursday, Epic Games announced on its Twitter the first title on its platform to support modifications made by the community, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Epic Games said:

"This is an early iteration of the feature, but you can expect to see more titles supported in the future. Keep an eye out!"

With the new feature, it will be possible to browse mods created by players and developers. In addition, the implementation made by Epic Games will also assist in the installation of these modifications.

Epic Games is generally criticized for its exclusive titles and less robust features compared to Steam. However, with this new feature that will support mods for various titles, it will be a big step forward that will likely please many users. Steam also has a similar feature called Steam Workshop and it was something to be missed on its rival's platform.

Recently, Epic Games has also included other features on its platform, such as "achievements", "saves" in the cloud and, mainly, automatic refunds, as you can see below in the post by user Joshua Boggs on the social network Twitter:

Whoa whoa what?! I’ve clearly been around for too long because I find this refund for a discount I missed on the ⁦@EpicGames⁩ store absolutely mind blowingly generous. This is incredible? pic.twitter.com/eHfcus5E0K
