This Tuesday (19) Facebook released a new function that allows you to find out when the user appears in photos, even if they have not been tagged in the publication. This new feature is based on the facial recognition technology already present in the suggestions for tagging friends' profile pictures. With this new tool it will be possible to identify whenever a photo is published with you, and even in cases of your photos being used by third parties to create fakes. Another interesting benefit is that visually impaired people will now be able to know who is in the photos that are displayed in their news feed.
The tool works as follows, whenever a photo is published and you are among the friends of the person who posted it, a notification will be sent even if the person has not tagged you in the post. Then you just decide if you want to tag yourself, untag yourself or contact the person to ask them not to disclose the photo. Another alert that is also present is when a photo of the user has been chosen as a profile picture. This way the user will be able to identify and report fake profiles more quickly.

And the second requirement is to have the facial recognition function enabled in your profile settings. This change implements a standard command for the account, which will be available in the desktop version and in the mobile app, to activate it just enter the settings of any platform and check the "on/off" button.
Facial recognition began in 2010 on the social network of Marck Zuckerberg. The technology analyzes the pixels of the photos and generates a series of numbers, called a "template", when receiving new photos and videos, the system then compares the templates to identify the people in the images.

For visually impaired people, facebook already has a tool that describes photos, now with this new facial recognition feature, your friends' photos will be identified, that is, by facial recognition it will be possible to know which friends are in the photos.
The feature is being rolled out around the world gradually, with the exception of Canada and the European Union, where facial recognition technology is not yet used. Enabling this feature is optional.
