Facebook launches bounty program for data abuse reports

Recently, Facebook found itself involved in a gigantic case of data leakage from users of the social network. The news, of course, left Mark Zuckerberg's company in dire straits, and it banned the Cambridge Analytica account, one of the companies involved in the scandal.

Facebook, now, to try to restore its image with users, decided to launch a program that provides rewards for those who report data abuse.

Tip: Here's how to tell if your Facebook data was leaked to Cambridge Analytica.

As described, the program in question will work in a similar way to the rewards for those who find bugs in the system. Thus, if anyone finds evidence and evidence of an application or company that is violating Facebook policies and possibly collecting data improperly, used for some purposes, such as political influence or even application of scams, it will be possible to report it in the program.

      • Emoticons on the keyboard
The program was named Data Abuse Bounty and is already in place. The company did not reveal the amounts that will be passed on to those who find faults. In bug-hunting programs, for example, bounties of more than $40 have already been provided. Thus, the idea is that the program rewards users according to the impact of the report.

      Check out Facebook's statement:

"This program will reward people with knowledge and proof that an application within the Facebook platform collects and transfers people's data to a third party who will sell, steal or use it for scams or even political influence. Like our bug program, We will reward you according to the impact of each report. While there is no upper limit, the bug program, in high impact cases, has awarded more than $40 to people who have brought their findings to our attention."

To top it off, Facebook says it will evaluate reports in the shortest possible time, and if any are confirmed, it will take the necessary measures.
