    Facebook removes network of pages used to sell likes

      This Wednesday (15), Facebook issued a statement in which it says it removed a network of 72 groups, 50 accounts and 5 pages that violated authenticity and spam policies.

      According to the social network's investigations, this set was used to "falsely expand engagement in search of financial gain". In this way, the network of pages, groups and profiles were being used to offer the purchase and sale of reactions, as well as followers and Pages:

      "Our investigation found that an entity identified as PCSD, based in Spain, used a network of Groups, Accounts and Pages where people could buy and sell Reactions, Follows and Pages, repeatedly violating our Community Standards."

      Facebook also reported that the network in question was discovered as a result of a complaint made by the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, which has collaborated with the social network in monitoring threats, abuse and disinformation campaigns.

      Information passed on by Facebook also indicates that this Spanish network was discovered due to an investigation base on false amplification of political Pages in the Mexican election, which took place recently.

      "We are investing in people and technology to keep bad actors and bad content out of our services. We have around 20 people working in areas of integrity, security and content review around the world, twice as many as we had in the year past," Facebook said.


      This is already the second big action by Facebook in a short time. Recently, the social network removed a large number of profiles and pages that were being used for the dissemination of Fakes News of content related to politics in Spain.
