It was announced by Sony, on Thursday (2) of last week, the beginning of the pre-sale of Horizon Forbidden West, however, in the midst of the announcement, something happened that fans of the franchise did not expect: who owned the standard edition of the title for PS4 would not receive a free upgrade to the PS5 version. After a great negative reaction from the players, fortunately, Sony ended up giving in and promised now that we will have a free update of Horizon Forbidden West for the PlayStation 5 version.
Previously, in Sony's announcement, it was communicated that in order to get the Horizon Forbidden West update to the PS5 version, you would need to have the Digital Deluxe Edition, Collector's Edition or Regalla Edition. However, last year, Sony even declared that it would provide free updates for titles that had cross-gen (games that are present on both PS4 and PS5). Due to this fact and the complaints of the players, Sony quickly saw that it was wrong and reacted.
When the pre-order announcement for Horizon Forbidden West took place, many PlayStation 4 owners were outraged by Sony's initial decision. In the same update, Jim took the opportunity to communicate that upcoming PlayStation exclusive titles will have a $10 PS4 to PS5 upgrade option, considering both the physical and digital versions. This will happen for the next God of War title and for Gran Turismo 7.
