In tests, Facebook removes all pages from the main feed

Last week, Facebook turned on the Explore Feed, but social network users from Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Slovakia, Serbia, Guatemala and Cambodia ended up getting a different version of the feature.

Mark Zuckerberg's company selected the six countries for a test that was eventually made public by a Slovenian journalist named Filip Struhárik. However, after the revelation, the press and brands that use Facebook as a means of dissemination ended up being surprised by the news.

      • How to Filter What Appears in the Facebook News Feed
In Spain, the Exploration Feed is aimed at discovering content from who the user follows, however, in those countries Facebook started using the space as the only means of corporate exposure. This means that the main feed was reserved for posts from known people, and in Exploration for the rest, that is, pages.

As a change, "pages are seeing dramatic drops in organic reach," Struhárik said. "The reach of several questioned Facebook pages dropped on Thursday and Friday by two-thirds compared to previous days."

Several international specialized vehicles had repercussions on the case, which made Facebook end up speaking out. "We always listen to our community about how we can improve News Feed," said Director in charge of the News Feed, Adam Mosseri.

"People tell us they want an easier way to see posts from friends and family. We're testing to have a dedicated space for people to stay in touch with their friends and family, and a separate space called Exploration with posts from pages ."

Mosseri said that there are no plans to expand the plans globally for now, and also revealed that the company was studying ways to find a solution to the problem pointed out by users.

"The purpose of this test is to understand whether people prefer to have separate spaces for personal and public content," he explained. "We're going to hear what people say about the experience to see if it's an idea worth pursuing."
