    Instagram co-founders leave Facebook

Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger have left Instagram. The news was confirmed through a blog post written by Systrom.

According to sources connected to the matter, the reason for the departure of Systrom and Krieger is due to the increased interference of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

"We are planning to take time to explore our curiosity and creativity again," Systrom wrote in the blog post. "Building new things requires us to step back, understand what inspires us and match what the world needs; it's what we plan to do."

Facebook acquired Instagram back in 2012 and since then the photo social network has gained even more popularity.

"Mike and I are grateful for the last eight years at Instagram and six years with the Facebook team," Systrom wrote.

Mark Zuckerberg also commented on the duo's departure: "I've learned a lot working with them over the last six years and really enjoyed it. I wish them all the best and look forward to seeing what they build next."

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that a co-founder of a service purchased by Facebook has left the company. Earlier this year, for example, WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum announced that he would leave Facebook over disagreements over users' privacy. Brian Acton, co-founder of Koum, left Facebook in September last year.

The real reason for Systrom or Krieger's departure is not explicit, as they did not mention it. "We remain excited about the future of Instagram and Facebook in the years to come, as we go from leaders to two users in a billion," wrote Systrom. "We look forward to seeing what these innovative and extraordinary companies do next."
