Nexus 7 review: first impressions, specs and unboxing of Google's new tablet

last week the Google officially launched the tablet Nexus 7 in partnership with Taiwanese ASUSTeK Computer Inc. The device has surprising features in terms of hardware and price (only 199 dollars), in addition to factory loading the new version of the system Android, Jelly Bean (4.1), with all its new features. To kill a little curiosity, we tested the new gadget here at Techlifers. See our unboxing impressions and images below:

With a display with resolution of 1280 × 800 (216 ppi) and improved touch sensitivity, the Nexus 7 offers a wonderful viewing experience. The most intense colors are in charge of technology ASUS TruVivid, which displays bright and vivid colors. Because this is a screen IPS (In-Plane Switching technology, in English) images can be viewed at a viewing angle of up to 178 degrees. Still, with the quad-core processor of 1.3 GHz Integra 3 da Nvidia and a But by the full GPU acceleration tech de 12 nuclei, the tablet is really quick to present the tasks we demand of it. Nexus 7 vs. Kindle Fire x Nook:

O Nexus 7 is thinner and lighter than the tablets with which it comes to compete: the Kinde Fire (Amazon) and the Nook (Barnes & Noble). All cost the same price (199 dollars) and run the system Android. The processor and screen resolution, already mentioned above, are also more powerful than those present in competitors. However, the tablet Google definitely takes advantage of being the only one with the most up-to-date version of the system (Jelly Bean 4.1) and, being the company's official tablet, we can assume that it will continue to be the first to receive future updates. For a complete list of new features, see our Android Jelly Bean article. With respect to Kindle Fire, access to the Google Play (app store, books, music and movies from Google, which is barred on the tablet of Amazon).

The disadvantages compared to the two competing tablets are the battery, which is slightly smaller, the lack of a memory expansion slot and, of course, the amount of online content available: although it is rich in apps, the Google Play loses badly if we compare its current collection of books, music and movies, with the collection of Amazon. There is also no rear camera (only the front, 1.2 MP, for those who want to make video conferences). But let's face it: who uses the rear camera of a tablet, right?

      Design e Unboxing:

The first impression when handling the Nexus 7 it's very positive. I can confirm that the build quality of the rear is excellent, as well as offering a good grip for the hands. In it we find a micro USB port and a connector for the socket on the bottom of the device. On the right side are the buttons to turn on the device and increase and decrease the volume. In the images below you can check what comes in the box and the first physical impressions of the Nexus 7 :

We still recorded a video with the device:

      Spanish market:

There is still no information about the price or availability of the tablet for the Spanish market. As always, it should get here a little more expensive than in the United States. Even so, as stated Hugo Barra, Spanish and director of product management at Googlethe Nexus 7 will arrive in the country very soon, with very competitive prices, as this “is a perfect tablet for the Spanish market”.

      Conclusion:

For the advertised price, you won't find a better tablet on the market (at least until the Samsung, Amazon e Barnes & Noble counterattack with their new models). THE Nexus 7 is really a champion, shaking, mainly, the wave of xing-ling tablets that exists in our country. However, comparing it to models with larger screens (and more prohibitive prices), the decision Nexus 7 may depend on the user's taste for larger screens, slots for additional memory cards (which some consider essential in a tablet or smartphone Android) and internal storage capacity.
