    Paraná Court imposes a fine of R$ 2,78 million on Facebook

      The Justice of Paraná is charging a fine of BRL 2,78 million from Facebook for failing to comply with a court decision regarding the provision of data on two people investigated for active and passive corruption.

      Paraná prosecutors asked Mark Zuckerberg's company for interactions between two people. Authorities were looking to find out if those involved exchanged messages through the social network between October 2015 and February 2017, Paraná Portal said.

      Facebook, in turn, said that it can only provide basic information between users, and that details about communications made between individuals can be made to network operators abroad (United States and Ireland).

However, even with the data in hand, the company did not provide the information requested, and the fine of BRL 50 per day was imposed on July 11.

      Last Friday (1), without providing the data by Facebook, the justice of Paraná imposed a fine of R$ 2,78 million referring to the total due since July 11, 2017.
