Konami announced on its website that it has decided to cancel the release of the full version of PES 2021. The reason for the action was that the studio wants to focus more on the release of the full version of the game for the next generation consoles, which should take place in the year next.

According to Konami, PES 2020 will receive a "season update" for an "affordable birthday price". At the same time, PES Productions will constantly work on a version of the game for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, which will use the Unreal graphics engine from Epic Games.
