A LG launched the line of portable speakers XBOOM Go to compete directly with the JBL, one of the brands responsible for the popularization of portable speakers in Spain. With good mobility and sound quality, the new XBOOM Go PK3, PK5 e PK7 able to serve all audiences, bringing waterproof bodies, Bluetooth connection and Enhanced Bass technology.
The sound system of the three models comes as a result of the partnership between LG e meridian Audio, promising quality sound indoors or outdoors. The model we used for testing was the XBOOM Go PK3, the “entry” speaker of the new line, and we took into account the design, the connectivity options, mobility and, of course, the sound quality, between the treble and bass. The remarkable little LG does not disappoint, not even the most avid music lovers.
Positives
- Ergonomic and compact design;
- Sound quality is impressive for the category;
- Bluetooth connection is stable;
- Long-lasting 12-hour battery.
Negative points
- Product is a little heavy;
- Volume is not that loud.
Design
A XBOOM Go PK3 is the smallest and most portable of the three models in the range of speakers from LG. The design is more rectangular compared to its direct competitors, such as speakers from JBL and even the Beats Pill. The model weighs about 700g, a little heavier too, but the ergonomic design doesn't bother you in the hand.
two sides, to XBOOM Go PK3 has two sound outputs that help when the EnhancedBass is on, helping to get even clearer and more powerful bass. The speaker command buttons are all located on top of the device, including a button to connect to a personal assistant, either the Crab do iPhone or Google Assistant, do not Android.
Compared to the XBOOM Go PK5 e PK7, the PK3 does not have the lights around its speakers. Which for many people may be just a detail, which in the end can preserve your battery life even more – I would even disable it if it came with the feature.
Conectividade
The connectivity of LG XBOOM Go PK3 is made entirely by Bluetooth, but its integration with personal assistants of the two major mobile operating systems elevates the user experience. With a simple press of a button, the speaker connects to your personal assistant on the iPhone ou Android and can receive voice command, making the device even easier to use. The speaker's built-in microphone also allows it to answer calls, and the result is interesting.
The sound box understands the commands very well, thanks to the well-distributed speakers. The Bluetooth connection is also satisfactory and remains stable for quite a while.
on the back of PK3, there is the entry USB-C for charging your battery and a 3,5mm port, the most common audio connectivity on the market that allows you to connect the PK3 with other types of sound players. That is, if you prefer, you can connect a cable connecting the XBOOM Go PK3 to a TV or cell phone, for example, and have a greater sound experience on a daily basis.
Mobility
not that the models PK5 e PK7 are not portable and highly mobile, but the LG XBOOM Go PK3 It is by far the most outstanding in this regard.
Without the handles, present in the other two devices in the line, the XBOOM Go PK3 does not offer any kind of limitation in its mobility, being able to be carried from one place to another easily in a bag or even in the hand. Of course, if you are looking for maximum sound quality, the larger models will suit your needs, but if you want a more satisfying sound for the size and the proposal to be more mobile, the PK3 it's your choice.
Sound quality
Despite its small size, the sound quality of the LG XBOOM Go PK3 impress. With super clear audio, even in its handsfree mode, it can indeed be considered a remarkable little portable speaker.
The audio system made in partnership with meridian delivers a clear, quality sound experience, even in the highest tones. The two side outputs, as mentioned before, help to improve the bass even more when the system EnhancedBass is enabled.
The same system as meridian also offers what they call Clear Voice, where even in the most extreme equalizations, the voices of the songs can be perceived clearly, without distortions. In a closed environment, the volume at 50% already guarantees a super satisfying sound experience. On the other hand, when placed at the highest volumes, you can feel the vibration of the speaker on the surface on which it is placed.
The sound quality of LG XBOOM Go PK3 It can even supply an audio deficiency from audiovisual devices and connect to your TV for an even more immersive audio experience for movies and even games.
Battery
Finally, the battery life of the XBOOM Go PK3 is quite satisfactory for the category. We did a stress test with the speaker connected to a smartphone and let the music play on Spotify. The battery life was around 12 continuous hours, pretty long lasting for a more affordable product.
If you are a more average user, who likes to listen to your music at one time or another - just like me -, the speaker of LG It can easily withstand 1 week of use. It's a really amazing brand.
Conclusion
the sound box LG XBOOM Go PK3 it is more than an “input device” for lovers of good music. It's a super portable way to ensure great sound quality, regardless of the environment. Its powerful and clear bass and treble stand out even for a device of this size, and the Bluetooth connection is stable. For the price of R$ 348,00 at the official Techlifers No. Magazine Luiza, it is a great entry option to compete with the Charge 3, from JBL.
