Founded in 2005 by Steve Huffman, Aaron Swartz and Alexis Ohanian in the US, Reddit is a kind of forum, where members post about specific topics, which are voted good or bad (up and down arrow). For the happiness of Windows OS users, as of now, Reddit has gained a PWA (Progressive Web App) app on the Microsoft Store.
PWA (Progressive Web App) is a kind of hybrid application that has characteristics of web pages and traditional apps. You can access a PWA through a browser (example: Chrome, Firefox, Edge) or from an icon on the desktop. Even though the appearance of the Reddit app for Windows is similar to what we already have on the web (website), Microsoft aims to make its app store popular.
Launch and availability
Since the moment Windows 11 was announced, a number of apps have appeared in the Microsoft Store, including Zoom, OBS, Canva, and others. In the case of the Reddit app, it is already possible to download it on both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Alternatives to the official Reddit app on the Microsoft Store
In case you didn't like the way they developed the official Reddit app for the Microsoft Store, there are other interesting third-party alternatives. One of them is Reddit Legere, an app launched in 2019. There's also Readit, an app that's been around since Windows Phone.
