Recently launched in Spain, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless da HyperX is one of the company's most advanced wireless headphones. Rugged and comfortable, it's easy to set up and intuitive to use. What's more, there's no complicated software to deal with and it works with PCs and PS4 (plus it's fully compatible with the new PlayStation 5). However, it doesn't have a 3,5mm audio jack, so no chance of using it with your phone or Nintendo Switch — and the microphone isn't removable, but luckily it's fully adjustable.

HyperX gave in to the Techlifers um Cloud Stinger Core Wireless da HyperX for testing, and after a week of intensive use on both PC and PS4, we present you with a complete in-depth review of this high-quality wireless headset.

    Design

O Cloud Stinger Core Wireless It features a simple yet elegant design: a white plastic chassis with large over-ear foam cups and a padded headband with an expandable steel bar underneath. The left earcup has everything the user will need, such as a volume adjustment wheel and an on/off button, a charging port and a flexible microphone.

The microphone isn't retractable or removable, but it switches automatically when you push it up, with a very smooth click that also mutates the rig. There's also a wireless dongle that you can connect to a PC or PS4.

REVIEW: HyperX Stinger Core Wireless Cloud Phone offers high quality and comfort
The design of the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless is simple, elegant and very similar to the colors of the new PlayStation 5

Even though it's not the prettiest wireless phone you've ever seen, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless from HyperX has a smart and solid design. A retractable or detachable microphone would have been nice, as would a place to stow the dongle, as the small accessory can be easy to lose for the most inattentive users.

However, what is most disappointing about this headset is the lack of a 3,5mm audio jack. although the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless is by no means the only wireless headset to bypass the port, it still severely limits device compatibility.

You can use it with a PC or PS4 (and also with the new PS5), and that's it. A 3,5mm jack would have added to the cost, but it also means that if you're looking for a headset for travel and everyday use, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless It is not your best purchase option.

    Comfort

O Cloud Stinger Core Wireless It's lightweight, weighing just 270 grams, and it's easy to wear for hours on end. Foam earplugs support continuous use without heating up or causing discomfort to the wearer. Finding a good fit is also easy, thanks to the distinctive notches that are easy to adjust and won't let you unintentionally mess up your device's fit.

Unfortunately, for those who wear glasses (like me), the earmuffs can press a little harder. This causes slight discomfort if you use the headphones for several hours at a time. So, if you wear glasses and have a heavy gaming routine, be aware of this issue and try to take occasional breaks and remove the headphones to rest your head.

    Sound quality and gaming performance

O Cloud Stinger Core Wireless from HyperX is amazingly amazing when used to listen to music. All musical genres came with good sound quality and robustness, from the bluegrass melodies of the Old Crow Medicine Show to the choral grandeur of Handel's Messiah.

The headphone definitely favors the treble. But the bass still sounds clear and the vocals don't overwhelm the instrumentation. However, since you cannot use the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless With smartphones or other portable devices, this headphone cannot replace your music headphones. But if you listen to a lot of music on your computer, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless will be a great musical companion.

REVIEW: HyperX Stinger Core Wireless Cloud Phone offers high quality and comfort
Cloud Stinger Core Wireless provides good sound quality for music and games

As the focus of this headset is for use in games, HyperX announced the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless mainly as a PS4 accessory (and PS5 too, as its color pattern is similar to that used on Sony's new console), so most of this analysis was performed using the headset on that system. The headset provides rich, nuanced sound and does an excellent job of balancing music, voice work, and sound effects.

Whether I was slaying demons in Doom Eternal or flying across the galaxy and fighting enemy fighters in Star Wars: Squadrons, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless provided crisp and clear sound. The sound setup leans a little towards the treble, but considering you'll be using this headset primarily for gaming, that's not too bad.

    Battery

The battery of the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless lasts up to 17 hours on one charge. There is an LED indicator next to the power button that flashes different colors depending on how much battery power is left and flashes red when the battery is about to run out completely. With constant use, the battery got close to 25% only after 5 hours. Fortunately, the headset only takes about 2 hours to fully charge.

Unfortunately the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless It doesn't have sound customization options. The device lacks equalization levels, surround sound and software to build your own profiles. Also, on PC or PS4 it is not possible to adjust the game/application and chat volume separately, so this may annoy the user depending on the game they are running.

    Price and final considerations

There is no doubt that the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless da HyperX leaves out some useful features that we normally like to see in wireless gaming headsets. There's no 3,5mm jack, no dedicated chat buttons, and no customization options. But depending on your gaming habits, you might not need any of that — and if you don't, the Cloud Stinger Core Wireless It still has great sound and a reasonably comfortable fit for R$749,90, an affordable price when you take into account all the benefits the device offers.
