Galaxy S21 Ultra: the new fingerprint sensor is very fast

The Galaxy S21 was announced by Samsung during CES 2021, which took place last week. As we know, compared to the Galaxy S20, this new generation of the S family has received punctual and succinct upgrades, with improvements in camera functions, a faster and more efficient processor, in addition to the integration with the S Pen accessory for the Ultra version.

But another detail that cannot go unnoticed is the precision and agility that the Galaxy S21's fingerprint sensor has. Famous informant Ice Universe released a video on Twitter showing the speed ability that the smartphone has to identify and authenticate user access. Repeatedly, the user goes through the process of turning the screen off and on and inserting his finger into the sensor to check its accuracy.

I am surprised that the ultrasonic fingerprint recognition speed of S21 Ultra is beyond my imagination, it beats all optical fingerprint recognition solutions, it is too fast. pic.twitter.com/mC4mjcw8No

    Ultrasonic and ultra fast sensor

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the most robust model of this new series, and to ensure security with agility, Samsung has inserted under the display the new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor manufactured by Qualcomm, called 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2. In the video, it is possible realize that the scanner works instantly, which is faster than on all smartphones announced by the company to date.

The sensor measures 8 x 8mm compared to 4 x 9mm for the most common model. This ratio facilitates recognition accuracy by 77%, preventing erroneous taps by collecting more data with each scan at a speed of 1,7x faster. Qualcomm guarantees that this sensor is at least 50% faster than any other available.

The speed and accuracy that this sensor offers is something really surprising. In fact, it is able to outperform any of the fingerprint recognition solutions used in the market until then.
