Google Assistant Supports Whatsapp Voice and Video Calls

We know that Google Assistant is fully integrated with other Google services, and its support for third-party apps is growing more and more.

Using Google Assistant you can send messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Facebook Messenger among others, record and send voice notes to WhatsApp, as well as read messages received from various applications.

Until then it didn't support calls to any of these apps, but that starts to change now with support for WhatsApp.

You could only request voice calls initiated in Google Assistant for conventional calls, while video calls could be made in Hangouts or Duo.

Google Assistant is now adding the ability to use WhatsApp for both, which expands the possibilities for interaction without touching your smartphone.

You can say "Ok Google, WhatsApp, video Marcia" to have Assistant make the video call via WhatsApp. However, when testing the new function I realized that it is still not working as it should.

Probably in the next updates it will reach everyone. For sending text messages within Whatsapp the function works perfectly.

Google's blog post did not make it clear whether this feature is only for smartphones, or whether the feature will be enabled through smart speakers and displays.
