How to use WhatsApp on more than one device at the same time

The days of users struggle with the WhatsApp seem to be coming to an end. the company of Mark Zuckerberg announced that it will now be possible to use the WhatsApp on more than one device at the same time. The new update is part of the Beta version of the instant messaging app, which was released for a limited time. If you are one of the lucky members who received the test, check out our tutorial on how to use the new feature below.

    What is WhatsApp Beta?

As regular users may know, to use the application in the browser it is necessary to connect it to the web version through a QR Code and keep the smartphone activated during the entire use, otherwise the signal drops. The great novelty, which was detailed in a long document published by the social network, shows that it is now possible to use the WhatsApp without connecting to the internet simultaneously on 4 devices.

Over two billion of active global users, the update proved necessary, since the connection failure has been constantly pointed out by those who access the application daily. Furthermore, the company is in a moment of improving not only the WhatsAppbut also the Instagram and the Facebook.

The technology used by WhatsApp allows all messages to be synchronized, maintaining end-to-end encryption, one of its differentials, which has its difficulties in ensuring its execution. According to the company, each message is individually encrypted and used in pairs on each device. That way, messages are not stored on the server after being received on another device. All of this is done through Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), a program that acts as an intermediary in the exchange of messages. The new update does not affect the application's backup system.

For now, as we mentioned earlier, the test is restricted to those chosen to use the Beta version, but the company intends to make the feature available to more users in the coming months before the official release of the update.

    1. Go to “Web WhatsApp” in the three dots of your app in the upper right corner. With a recent update, the name may have changed to “connected devices“, but this does not guarantee the test.
    2. Once you have clicked, the topic “Multi-device Beta” (or “Multidevice Beta") should appear. If so, you can access the beta and test the features.

By manually confirming and joining the Beta version, a notification will be available in your browser when you restart your smartphone and open the Web WhatsApp again. That way, you'll be able to run the system's new features.

Remembering that, when entering the Beta version, all your previous connections are removed and you will need to connect them again. As it does not use the internet connection, the device logout method is done automatically after 14 days of inactivity in the app on the phone for security purposes. You can still witness bugs, possible chat or call failures. To that end, the company is open to receiving all feedback from the community during this testing period. Be sure to report your experience on social media!
