Korea launches first 5G networks targeting cellphones

The race for the 5G network has already begun. This week, South Korea's biggest carriers activated the first 5G networks for cell phones. So, to become the first in the world to offer the technology, the Koreans anticipated the launch. The idea is to provide speeds up to 20 times faster than 4G and low latency for artificial intelligence and virtual reality applications.

The debut was scheduled to take place this Friday (05), along with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, but the Koreans wanted to stay ahead of the Americans. In the United States, 5G is offered for domestic connections, and the mobile version should arrive only next week through Verizon.

By the end of the year, more than 3 million South Koreans are expected to migrate to the new technology. Operators must make an investment of US$ 2,6 billion.

    And in Spain?

The question that does not want to be silent is when the 5G network will be made available in Spain. Here, as we already know, the delay is still large. The frequency auction should be carried out by Anatel in March 2020. Only after that will we begin to see the first signs of the technology. Let's wait!
