Samsung overtakes Apple to become the third largest mobile processor maker

Samsung overtakes Apple to become the third largest mobile processor maker

Many people know Samsung because of its smartphones, but the South Korean giant operates in several sectors of the industry. For example, it makes refrigerators, ovens, TVs, monitors and even military equipment. In addition, the company is also able to design, use and sell its own mobile processors.

Exynos chipsets can be found in several Samsung devices, as well as models from other brands, such as Vivo and Motorola. Recently, a petition was created to stop the company from using this processor, but that is unlikely to happen, especially now that we know that the chip business has been booming.

Xiaomi overtakes Huawei in smartphone sales

According to recent data from Counterpoint Research, a company specializing in market analysis, Samsung managed to sell more chips than Apple, making it the third largest manufacturer of mobile processors in the world.

Qualcomm still dominates in an absolute way, with a market share of 33,4%, followed by MediaTek with 24,6%. Now that Samsung is third with a 14,1% share, Apple has dropped to fourth with 13,1%.

Samsung's growth in this sector is due to the fact that the company has launched several models with Exynos last year. The Galaxy M and A line intermediaries, which deliver interesting specifications and an attractive price, certainly helped a lot for the company to rise in the survey. The Galaxy S10 and Note 10 line also contributed to these numbers.
