Samsung is updating its Windows Mixed Reality headset with the new HMD Odyssey+. The updated version brings some tweaks and improvements.
The headset has the same size as 3,5-inch AMOLED screens with a resolution of 1440 X 1600, however, this time it arrives with a wider vision box to avoid fogging and still a display technology.
As a novelty, Samsung is using Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) technology to improve the pixelation that sometimes occurs with VR headsets. Such technology is used to make the spaces between pixels less visible and thus increase the perceived PPI from 616ppi on the previous model to 233ppi on the new Odyssey+. The measure should help to avoid dizziness and nausea while using the headset.
Among the changes is a new Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) wheel to help adjust the distance between the lenses. The new Odyssey+ headset is available in Microsoft stores or on Samsung.com starting today in the US for $499.
