According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), Samsung is deceiving its smartphone users by claiming they are water resistant to the point where you can swim with them in a pool or sea. In a press release (CNET) the regulator says it will take the Korean to court over false advertising in its commercials.
Several recently released cell phones support IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. It allows devices to be submerged in fresh water to a depth of 1,5 meters for a maximum period of 30 minutes without damage to the device.
However, according to the ACCC, Samsung extrapolated the certification's capabilities in its commercials in the media, saying that its smartphones could be used normally in swimming pools and at sea. The regulator also says the company hasn't even sufficiently tested how water affects its phones over their lifetime and has denied warranty claims from users of Galaxy smartphones that have been damaged by water.

The smartphones subject to the case are the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10 Plus, S9, S9 Plus, S8, S8 Plus, S7, S7 Edge, Note 9, Note 8, Note 7, A8, A7 and A5.
The most ironic thing is that Samsung, on its Galaxy S10 smartphone page, says the phone is IP68 rated and "Not recommended for beach or pool use" and continues to make commercials that say otherwise.
