    Alphabet offers free trial of drone deliveries in Finland

      Wing, the drone delivery startup owned by Alphabet, has announced that it will launch a test service in Finland next year. Thus, the company will offer 10-minute deliveries of items weighing 1,5 kg or less over distances of 10 km in the country's capital. Deliveries will be available free of charge as part of the study. When it is officially launched the company should charge for it.

      Tests in Australia have already transported several items, including burritos, household equipment and medicine, but now Wing has not decided what it will transport. Currently the company is receiving suggestions through its website. Potential items include food options, pain relievers and emergency essentials.

      Wing, in addition to offering faster deliveries at more affordable prices for companies and customers, said that its drones have the advantage of battery life, which in environmental terms is more advantageous than ground transportation.

      According to the company, 12% of greenhouse gas emissions in Finland result from road transport and that its deliveries have 22 times less than the previous alternatives.

      As a rival, Amazon, which has already been testing "Prime Air" drone deliveries in the UK since 2016. So far, none of the companies have carried out large-scale tests in the United States, mainly due to aviation rules that are quite strict in the country.
