Android 11 will allow you to restore deleted files

Google continues to implement new features in Android 11. This time, the company announced that the next version will have a tool similar to the Windows Recycle Bin. When the user deletes a file, it will not be deleted immediately, only moved to a place where it will be possible to recover it during a certain period.

The news was announced by Roxanna Aliabadi, Android Product Manager. The executive said that files moved to the trash will be kept for 30 days and can be restored at any time.

Seeking to make Android more secure and transparent, the new version will require apps to ask for user permission before modifying any media files. This will happen due to Scope Storage, a technology that takes apps from unrestricted access to the device's internal storage and can make it difficult to install APKs.

According to the folks at XDA Developers, despite Google saying the feature will arrive in the final beta, the "Android Recycle Bin" has been available since the first developer preview. To demonstrate how the API works, a developer created an application: the user is asked if they want to move a photo to the trash, and can restore it within seven days. Apparently, the company will increase the period in the latest version.

We still don't know when Android 11 will be officially released, but considering Google's history, the new system is expected to be introduced between July and August of this year. Until then, other news should be added.

At the moment, the beta version is available on the Pixel line devices and on some models from other brands, such as Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
