Google employees miss Android 10 release date

A Google employee accidentally revealed the release date of the latest version of its mobile operating system, Android 10. The customer support agent missed the date during an online chat with a reporter from the Phone Arena website. Another support agent provided the same information to one of the publication's readers.

When asked when Android 10, which used to be called Android Q, will be available for the Google Pixel 3a, agents said the launch would be on the same day. September 3.

"I'm glad you showed interest in the latest security update on Android devices," said the official. "Based on my capabilities, we have an Android 10 update, or Android Q. Android rollout will be September 3, 2019."

Google is planning a major overhaul of the world's most popular operating system, with details about its new design revealed in an official blog post.

      • No sweets this time: Simply Android 10
Unlike previous versions of the operating system, Google will drop the alphabetical nomenclature, with the name of sweets and desserts. This means that the successor to Android Pie will simply be called Android 10.

As with previous Android updates, Google will likely release the latest version of Google Pixel devices before a wider version for other Android devices such as Samsung and Motorola.
