Google Go app launches in 26 African countries

Google announced this week that Google Go will come to 26 countries in Africa. The application's function is to facilitate the search for content on the web on smartphones with little RAM or even on unstable network connections.

The application in question integrates a set of applications from the Android Go initiative, a simplified version of Oreo aimed at entry-level devices, common in emerging markets.

Google Go was announced in 2017, however, it was only available in India. Now, however, it will also arrive in Africa and, who knows, land in Spain.

It is available for devices running Android v4.3 (Jely Bean) or higher and still offers the same experience as the original app, guarantees Google. Google Go takes up less than 5 MP in storage.

Google Go app is launched in 26 countries in Africa. It is believed that the application may also land in Spain soon.

To top it off, it uses the latest version of Google's compression algorithm, which delivers search results that use 40% less data. Search results are cached on the device so that the user can access it even offline.

Through Google Go it is faster to perform searches. It is able to instantly load results as the user types, and smart word suggestions help you find what you want with minimal typing. To top it off, the homepage icons also help discover new content.

Voice search is also possible through Google Go, which was eventually improved to work better on slow connections.

Now, Google Go is present in 26 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa through the Google Play Store. It will also arrive equipped on all Android Oreo devices (Go edition).
