Google will soon make hundreds of free movies available via Google Play

Ads can be bad. On the other hand, in some cases, they can be great. Take, for example, the latest version of Google Play Movies, the folks at XDA as usual have access to application codes to eventually improve them.

And sometimes, they can discover information that is yet to come, in hidden code within these application installation files. That's exactly what happened with Google Play Movies, according to a recent disassemble (access to the application's source code), Google may be preparing what appears to be the availability of hundreds of free movies on its platform and, the only downside of this great news is that it will be supported by ads.

There are hundreds of video streaming services that allow you to watch your favorite TV series and movies at home, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, among many others.

Free movies with ads would be a great idea for those who don't have any streaming service

This is an area where Google really doesn't compete. While the other services mentioned above allow you to pay a monthly fee to access all video content, Google Play Movies is a purchase and rental service for digital movies and TV shows.

However, Google seems to be planning some changes to its movie platform to boost its usage, in particular, as you can see below, an ad scheme to allow free streaming for the movies available in its collection.

As detailed, in version v4.18.37 of the Play Filmes app, XDA has identified some sequences suggesting the change to come.

It is not known for sure if this change could have to do with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is keeping many people indoors in social isolation. And, still, it is not known if this idea will only contemplate users for a specific period or if it will be beneficial for some locality.

But the only certainty we have is that there is a gigantic catalog of titles, which we often don't find on other services. But even if the content exists elsewhere, being able to watch it without having to pay anything for it is worth it. Even if at some point we have to watch an ad or another.

Now it's time to wait for the next update to officially arrive for all users and also wait for Google's manifestation regarding the change.
