Instagram decides not to promote Reels made from TikTok

In its recent best practices post for Rells, Intagram urges users not to post videos taken from other apps. The social network says that when the user shares videos from another app, the algorithm of its platform will detect and not display the post widely. Check out what will happen below.

How Reels published videos from other apps will work

According to the information released on the official Instagram creators profile, the app's algorithms will detect when videos published in other apps are published on the platform. With this, those who do not follow the profile of the person who posted a video, for example, from TikTok, will not be able to see the publication, but those who follow will be able to access it.

In the post it was said:

"[We've heard] that poor video quality reels (i.e. blurry due to low resolution) or content that is visibly recycled from other apps (i.e. contains logos or watermarks) makes the Moments experience less satisfying . Therefore, we are making this content less discoverable in places like the Moments tab."

Instagram wants to avoid TikTok videos

This action by Instagram for its algorithms to detect videos from other apps undoubtedly makes it clear that the social network wants to prevent productions made from the TikTok app from being published on its platform. It is likely that, if you used Reels, you have already seen the TikTok logo in the corner and it is very likely that Instagram does not want to serve as a showcase for another rival app.

Instagram gives advice on how to make successful videos

In addition to the list of things not to do on Reels, Instagram also left some tips for creating "successful moments". The social network suggests that the user share vertical videos with music created by yourself or with original audio from other Reels. In case the person does not want to opt for these alternatives, there is still an Instagram music library. The rest of the advice is confusing, such as creating fun content (not saying how) or starting a trend for other people to reproduce ("too easy").
