Instagram introduces new design for stories accessed on the computer (PC)

Recently Instagram developers started testing a new functionality for the app's web platform. Now there will be a new way of viewing for those who access Instagram through browsers (Chrome, Firefox, among others).

The new design being tested on Instagram's web platform now shows a carousel-like display, instead of just a "stories" on the page accessed from the social network. This was the only change that occurred and the commands to pass the "stories" remained the same, being possible to pass to the next one manually or let it change automatically.

An Instagram spokesperson confirmed that testing is being done through a "small group" of users and that the process started last month (December). In addition, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said that the Chinese app TikTok is the biggest competitor his company has ever had. Due to TikTok's rapid rise in popularity, Instagram recently announced that it will combine two important features of the social network: online shopping and Reels short videos. With this, content producers and companies will be able to sell products by making videos.

    Adam Mosseri says:

"TikTok is an incredibly strong competitor, even the strongest competitor we've ever seen. They're always focused, determined, and great execution. We try to catch up in a number of ways to create a complete experience to motivate them to use our platform more because , if there is no compelling content, they have no reason to go to Reels in the first place."

Instagram's intentions when embedding purchases in videos

Instagram's goal in incorporating the purchase function into videos is to make moments more attractive to consumers and content creators. As advertising becomes more effective, Facebook may even charge higher fees for these types of ads.
