Last Tuesday (10), Instagram released the "Focus" feature, which allows users to take selfies and make videos for stories with a blurred background, making the face more prominent, that is, the same Portrait mode functionality that is available on some smartphone models.
The functionality had already been tested for a few weeks, however, it was only this week that the new function was released to all Instagram users. The social network highlights that iPhone SE, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X devices, in addition to Android devices, can now enjoy the new Focus mode.
To use the new feature, just tap the camera icon in the upper left corner and select the "Focus" option located just below the recording button. For the mode to work it is necessary for the camera to find one or more faces, it is worth mentioning that the novelty can be used both on the rear camera and on the front camera.
When identifying the face, the application starts to blur the background immediately, after which the user simply clicks on the button to capture an image or presses it for a few moments to generate a video. For the rest, nothing changes, the user just needs to edit the photo if they wish, or publish it in Stories or simply send it to their contacts.
However, Instagram for iOS has gained another novelty, the @mention option, which allows users to tag profiles in images or video with an option equivalent to adding hashtags.
