Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL get camera improvements with new Pixel Visual Core

Head of Engineering for the team behind the software, Ofer Shacham, explained on the Google Blog that Pixel Visual Core was activated yesterday for Pixel 2 users, and that the software will also be available to all users in the coming days. . According to the Head of Engineering "it will be easier to capture and share amazing photos on Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat together with many other apps that use the Pixel 2 camera."

To prove the improvements capable of being made by the software, Shacham showed a gallery with photos without the software and photos with HDR+ from the Pixel Visual Core.

The engineer adds, "We can use this additional computing power to improve the quality of your photos by running the HDR+ algorithm. Like the Pixel's main camera, the Pixel Visual Core also runs RAISR, which makes enlarged photos look sharper. and detailed than ever before."

The RAISR system is a tool that allows digital zoom photos to be more detailed and sharp. What guarantees the user great photos even if they are far from what you want to photograph, leaving the image less distorted and with little definition.

Another interesting novelty is Zero Shutter Lag. Tool that exempts the delay between the moment when the user touches the finger to shoot the photo, the capture of the photo itself and the image processing. As of this new software update, this entire process becomes instantaneous.
